Choice Reading Groups Term 1: Pūwhare and Kōwhiringa

During Term 1 so far both the Pūwhare and Kōwhiringa reading groups have had the amazing opportunity to choose the books they would like to read and/or topics they would like to read and learn about each week.

They have chosen to read and learn about a number of thing including giant snails, chess, monsters, birds, gold mining, snakes, protecting the oceans and beaches, rally cars, unusual traditions, cultures, dinosaurs, fingerprints, money, killer plants and much much more.

Miss Skinner, Mr Gibson and Mrs Hefferman have set a number of weekly challenges for these learners to help and share with people in our Wigram and Christchurch community. Some of these people included Mr Barrow, Mr Rob (our caretaker), the New Brighten locals, Mr Gibsons sister Lonnae, Lady Wigram, their class Kererū, our school, their peers, Whaea Andrea and again, much much more.

They have completed these tasks over the past weeks in a number of creative way and shared these during our Friday afternoon reading program. Check out some of them below:
