Kererū's trip to the Art Gallery

Last Wednesday we were lucky enough to go to the Christchurch Art Gallery to look at the work of Eileen Mayo.





 One beautiful sunny Wednesday Kererū went to the Christchurch Art Gallery on a bendy bus. Once we got there we lined up to get inside of the art gallery. The art gallery was full of windows. In the art gallery Kererū met Susie, she was the person who worked at the art gallery. She was really nice. I did the scavenger hunt first. The cavenger hunt was a paper with questions about things you find in the art gallery. One of the questions was how many green dots are there? First we wrote 97, then 96 and then 97 again but my group got it wrong. Another question was what animal chases birds and my group chose cats and we got it right - yay! The funnest question for me was, what is your favourite painting in the art gallery? Mine was one with clouds and mountains.Next we went into the classroom at the art gallery and painted and coloured New Zealand birds with Susie.I did a blue duck which is called a whio. After that we went back to school. I told my mum and she said the whole family could go to the art gallery when she knew how excited I had been to visit there.

    Hi there, Room 2 from HPS would love to tell you that they like how described the bus as bendy, What made you think of that word? It is very interesting. We would like to know if you got to paint anything while you were at the art gallery?

      Thank you for your comment Room 2, the bus actually bent in the middle - it was so funny when we went round corners because the front half of the bus went round the corner first and then the back half! We laughed a lot!! We made pictures of native New Zealand birds using crayons and water colours at the art gallery. We will be having an art exhibition soon so we will post photos of our artwork then. Have you been on a school trip this year? From Kererū

    Hi Kererū! You sound like you had an amazing time at the Art Gallery! Did you go for the whole day and spend some time looking around too? We would love to see a picture of your favourite painting, Abigail. Do you know what the painting was called or who made it so we might be able to google it? Your Whio looks very bright and colourful - we might have to try and arrange a trip to the Art Gallery too! It looked lots of fun :) From TM2!

    Good Afternoon Kereru, it is wonderful to see you guys at the Art Gallery. I looks like you guys had a awesome time. It looks like you guys have learned lots of stuff at the Art Gallery.

    Why did you guys want to go to the Art Gallery and was the Art Gallery fun or boring because it sounds like fun going there.
